ROW FOR HEART 2011
Guelph's Annual ROW FOR HEART was another great success this year raising $4500.00 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Participants took 4 weeks of Learn To Row classes and showcased their new skills at the July 9, 2011 Regatta hosted by the Guelph Rowing Club. Spirit Award winners were the "Dam Eight" with honourable mention going to the "George N’ Bells." Guest speakers Janet Parr and Mark Stewart captivated the group following the event, with their stories about surviving Heart Disease. It was a fantastic day with lots of cheering, excitement and celebration. Thank you to all of the participants, the Guelph Rowing Club and all of the Volunteers that made the day such a success! Thank you to Nicole Bellefleur and the Guelph Rowing Club for organizing such a fantastic annual event! A special thank you to Doug of DJ England Photography, Pat from the Guelph Rowing Club and Dana from HSFO for taking such wonderful photos!

10th annual AIC WALK FOR HEART
The 10th annual AIC Walk For Heart took place at Fairy Lake, Newmarket on Sunday, September 25, 2011. This super fit for heart event had over 300 dedicated participants walking the 2km or 4km trails in support of heart disease research & advocacy efforts! This year there were great sponsors to make this event so successful such as Allied International Credit, Investors Group, Upper Canada Mall, Coopers CSA, the Pickle Barrel and more. Overall this was an amazing event which raised $50,000 this year and has raised over $400,000 in the previous walk for heart events! A big thank you to the amazing teams such as Allied International Credit, Curves Newmarket & Aquila Consulting who participate and fundraiser every year. We also have many families in attendance honouring loved ones affected by heart disease & stroke. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the AIC WALK FOR HEART for putting their heart's into helping to save lives!

Stratusphere Yoga Event
Trish Stratus of Stratusphere in Vaughan hosted her first FIT for Heart event on December 17, 2008. This yoga event was a huge success raising over $6,000. Participants enjoyed a fun filled day including various types of yoga exercise. Trish and all the staff at Stratusphere have been exceptionally supportive of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. hey will be holding their second fundraising event in 2010. SAHL 6th Annual Women's Hockey Tournament
The 6th Annual Stouffville women's hockey tournament for Fit for Heart, SAHL tournament will be taking place at the Stouffville Arena on April 24-26, 2009. The tournament began with 8 teams and now has more than 20 teams in two divisions. The event has raised over a whopping $65,000.00 in the previous five years. The main purpose is to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as to have a great time! Thank you to all who have supported the tournament in the past and hopefully with your help we will reach our goal of $25,000 in our 6th anniversary year.

Mayfair's 9th Annual "Geared For A Cure" Spinathon
This year, the Mayfair committee, members and dedicated volunteers did an amazing job of organizing the 3.5hr long fundraising spinning marathon in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Together they raised an amazing $85,000 through sponsorships, pledges and silent auction activities! Congratulations Mayfair on this amazing achievement.

Stan Palmateer's 21st Annual 24hr Tennis Marathon
Stan wasn’t going to let rain dampen his outdoor attempts at playing for 24 hours straight. Playing on the clay tennis courts at Mimico Tennis Club, Stan, for the 21st time, took to the courts and after 12 hours, got rained out. By the great encouragement and organizing prowess of Marisa DeFrancesco, Stan played the remaining 12 hours on the following weekend to round out his 24 hours of straight play! Far surpassing their goal, together they were able to raise $6,247.00 - way to go team!

The 3rd Annual Kick Start Your Heart Event
The organizing duo consisting of Teresa Gibson and Sue Prescott did an outstanding job of putting together this year's Kick Start Your Heart 12 K walk along the Waterfront Trail. Starting at Marie Curtis Park and ending at Sunnyside to a cheering group of supporters, this event was able to surpass their goal to raise $3,861.50. Survivor speaker Lisa Li shared her amazing story before the group of about 30 walkers began their journey. Fantastic effort and great job!
